Le Trong was born in 1922 and was a village Party Secretary in the province of Hung Yen. He talks about the balance of power (tuong quan luc luong) between the armed forces of the Viet Minh and the French at the beginning of the war, including the differences in the weapons both sides used. Le Trong talks mostly about the “puppet regime” (te/bon te) in the Hung Yen area. He also mentions the imprisonment of “puppet” soldiers in a prison in Thanh Hoa as well as a Viet gian (“Vietnamese traitor”) elimination squad in Hung Yen. He finally talks briefly about the setting up and functioning of the Administrative Resistance Committees (Uy Ban khang chien hanh chinh).
